Zes maanden hard werken voor een fotoshoot

Voor Gordon is de fotoshoot, die morgen plaatsvindt, veel meer dan alleen een moment voor de camera. Het is de bekroning van een periode waarin hij zichzelf volledig opnieuw heeft uitgevonden. Op Instagram vertelt hij dat hij gisteren zijn laatste training afwerkte en trots is op wat hij de voorbije zes maanden heeft bereikt.

"Gisteren was mijn laatste training voor de shoot die morgen is. Zes maanden van discipline en verandering van levensstijl en eetpatroon. Niet makkelijk, maar zo dankbaar dat ik die keus heb gemaakt." Volgens Gordon was het niet altijd eenvoudig om vol te houden, maar heeft de keuze voor een gezondere levensstijl hem veel opgeleverd.

“Het mooiste cadeau aan mezelf” - Gordon

De zanger en presentator benadrukt dat de fysieke verandering voor hem niet het enige doel was. Hij ziet een gezond en fit lichaam vooral als een cadeau aan zichzelf. "Het mooiste cadeau aan mezelf: een goed, gezond, fit lijf. En dat gun ik iedereen. Ook al ben je goed genoeg in welke vorm dan ook, je verdient altijd meer en beter."

Daarnaast bedankt hij personal trainer Jasper Schmitz en Men's Health Nederland voor het vertrouwen dat zij in hem bleven houden, op een moment waarop hij dat zelf naar eigen zeggen grotendeels kwijt was.

Gordon inspireert ook anderen

Wat Gordon misschien nog het meest raakt, zijn de vele reacties die hij ontving van volgers. "Ook mooi om te lezen zijn die honderden (serieus!) berichten van mensen die dankzij mijn updates ook zijn gaan bewegen en hun levensstijl hebben omgegooid. Ge-wel-dig!!!" Dat maakt zijn persoonlijke succes volgens hem nog waardevoller dan de fysieke resultaten alleen.

Nog niet klaar: “Ik ga gewoon verder”

Hoewel de fotoshoot een belangrijk einddoel was, ziet Gordon het niet als het einde van zijn traject. Integendeel, hij wil zijn nieuwe levensstijl behouden. Na de shoot wil hij verdergaan met het ritme dat hij de afgelopen maanden heeft opgebouwd. Hij kijkt ook al vooruit naar de publicatie van Men's Health Nederland, die op 6 oktober in de winkel ligt. Tegen die tijd hoopt hij naar eigen zeggen zelfs nóg fitter te zijn. Zijn bericht sluit hij af met een enthousiaste boodschap die duidelijk maakt hoe trots hij is op zijn prestatie: "I fucking did it!!! HUP!!!!!!"

Een bijkomende voordeel van zijn gezonde levensstijl is dat zijn diabetis verdwenen is dat laat hij in een andere video zien, waarin iemand vraagt: "Gorden, nu dat je zoveel bent afgevallen is je suiker nu ook behoorlijk gezakt?" Het antwoord van Gordon is duidelijk: "Mijn diabetes is weg!"
